🍷 Quercegobbe 2023 – The distinctive Merlot from Maremma

Quercegobbe is the name of a special Merlot parcel at the Petra winery in the Tuscan Maremma. The gentle hillside location with sea views and the calcareous, clay-sandy soils create ideal conditions for a Merlot with exceptional fruitiness and elegance.

The Quercegobbe presents itself in deep ruby red and opens with a complex bouquet of blueberry jam, black cherries, plums, and dried raspberries. These are joined by subtle Mediterranean herb notes of rosemary and myrtle, as well as elegant hints of licorice, cinnamon, and black pepper.

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and harmonious. The silky tannins give it a soft, supple structure, while the perfectly integrated freshness ensures balance and drinkability. The long finish impressively highlights the fruity and spicy notes.

Part of the wine matures in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and fruit, while the other part is aged for 8 to 12 months in barriques and tonneaux. This combination gives Quercegobbe its special depth and complexity.
