Bellavista Alma Assemblage: The Soul of Franciacorta
A masterpiece of over 100 base wines that captures the essence of the terroir
Fine perlage, Mediterranean flowers, citrus notes, and a precise mineral freshness: The Alma Assemblage 2 Extra Brut from Bellavista impressively demonstrates why Franciacorta ranks among Italy's great sparkling wines.
Its uniqueness begins with the assemblage. Grapes from 60 individual vineyard plots and 91 separate selections are combined with chosen reserve wines. In total, this creates a complex interplay of over 100 base wines—composed to bring together the various facets of the Franciacorta terroir in a single wine.
🥂 Fine, mineral & wonderfully precise
The glass reveals an elegant, lively perlage. Floral and citrus notes characterize the bouquet, while the Alma appears fresh, linear, and mineral on the palate. Its Extra Brut dosage of only 3.5 g/l underscores the dry, precise character without detracting from the wine’s elegance.
🍾 Time as a crucial ingredient
Following the assemblage, the wine undergoes 30 months of bottle fermentation. After disgorgement, the Franciacorta receives another six months of bottle aging. This patience brings additional depth and combines freshness, fine perlage, and complexity into a harmonious whole.
🍽️ Ideal for
🥂 Elegant aperitif – pure and well-chilled as a stylish start
🦪 Oysters & seafood – the freshness and minerality pair wonderfully with salty, maritime delicacies
🐟 Fish & ceviche – especially beautiful with fine, fresh preparations
🍤 Shrimp & scampi – grilled, pan-seared, or as a light starter course
🍣 Sushi & sashimi – the Extra Brut style accompanies fine raw fish dishes superbly
🍗 Light meat – for example, with fine chicken or veal
🧀 Parmesan & fine hard cheese – exciting as an uncomplicated aperitif combination
🎁 Special occasions & gifts – for everyone who wants to discover something special beyond classic Champagne
🇮🇹 Bellavista – great sparkling wine culture from Lombardy
Bellavista was founded in 1977 by Vittorio Moretti in Erbusco, in the heart of Franciacorta. Today, the estate cultivates over 200 hectares of vineyards. Different sites and microclimates provide the variety of base wines that are crucial for the house’s characteristic assemblages.
The Alma Assemblage is symbolic of the Bellavista style: the focus is not on a single vineyard, but on the artful interaction of many different terroirs.
