Ras el Hanout has a reputation for being the pinnacle of allspice blends. The name Ras el Hanout, loosely translated, means "head of the shop" and is meant to represent the best that the spice merchant has to offer. What makes this blend so special is the number of ingredients, sometimes over twenty, and the subtle way in which all of these unique spices meld together to create a balanced, full-bodied blend with no harsh edges. Ras el Hanout is subtly curry-like with a spicy yet floral scent and a robust yet subtle flavor. When sprinkled on chicken and fish before roasting, grilling or baking, it adds a golden color and a mild, aromatic spiciness that is very pleasant. Ras el Hanout pairs well with lamb, game, tagines and couscous dishes.

Uses: Pairs well with lamb, game, tagines and couscous dishes. It is a very versatile spice used to add color and captivating flavor. Sprinkle on chicken and fish before roasting, grilling or baking.
